W4104 took part in the following Key Operations: With No.49 Sqn, No operations with No.83 as OL-A, Karlsruhe 2/3 Sep 1942, Bremen 4/5 Sep 1942, Duisburg 6/7 Sep 1942, Frankfurt 8/9 Sep 1942, Dusseldorf 10/11 Sep 1942-Lost. When lost this aircraft had a total of 68 hours. |
Harry was born on 10 September 1921 at Chatham, Ontario. Both parents were born in England, his father, a machinist, in London, and his mother in Surrey. He had a brother Frederick Alvin and a married sister Naomi Isabell. The schools he attended were Central, 1928-1936, Chatham Collegiate 1936-1939, followed by Chatham Vocational 1939-1940. His sport interests were hockey, basketball and softball. On Saturdays between 1939 and 1940 he would work as a clerk for Atlantic Pacific and he then worked for R. E. Stoeher (weaver industries), as a machine hand, 1940-1941 until he enlisted on 22 April 1941. |
After training for he was posted to the U.K.and embarked from Halifax on 23 October 1941. He then went to 3 PRC on 4 November, 25 OTU 17 March 1942, and then 83 Squadron on 6 July 1942. Tragically Harry was on ops on his 21st birthday and was to lose his life on 11 September 1942, the following day . |
